Fans of the hit series Severance are expressing frustration after a major spoiler for season one was accidentally revealed in a trailer for season two. Viewers who were trying to catch up on season one on Apple TV+ were surprised by the spoiler, which was automatically played before the first episode.

Many took to social media to vent their disappointment. One viewer tweeted, “Also shout out to Apple TV+ for auto-running a Severance trailer before the episode with a huge season 1 spoiler before I could even skip it lol.” Another fan wrote, “Catching up on a rewatch of Severance on @AppleTV and why does the very first episode start with a spoiler-filled trailer for Season 2?” A third fan shared their frustration: “Just copped an earth-shattering Severance spoiler because AppleTV autoplayed the season 2 trailer.”

For those not familiar with the show, Severance follows the employees of Lumon Industries who undergo a procedure to separate their work memories from their personal ones. The show delves into the unsettling consequences of this experiment as the characters, including Mark, Helly, Dylan, and Irving, uncover hidden secrets and begin to question the true nature of their work.

The trailer for season two, which was played at the start of season one episodes, revealed significant details about the upcoming season, which caused frustration for viewers. With the trailer providing a glimpse into the characters' futures, fans who were still catching up or rewatching the earlier episodes felt betrayed by the unintended spoilers.

The second season of Severance picks up almost three years after the events of season one. In this new chapter, the four main characters—Mark, Helly, Dylan, and Irving—are forced to confront the consequences of their actions and their involvement in a rebellion against Lumon Industries. According to creator Dan Erickson, the stakes are raised significantly, as the characters' success in season one comes with a heavy price. Erickson explained, “I think things get darker... we very much wanted to put our heroes in a scarier place because season 1 ends with them poking the bear.”

While season two of Severance offers new twists and dark developments for its characters, the early reveal of major spoilers has left many fans upset, with some feeling that their excitement for the new season has been dampened by the blunder.
