Paul Walter Hauser is confident about Fantastic Four: First Steps' success.

March 27, 2025

Marvel fans have something big to look forward to. Paul Walter Hauser, who plays a yet-to-be-revealed role in Fantastic Four: First Steps, is calling it the Marvel movie of the year. If his excitement is justified, this film could mark a new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

A Bold Comparison to MCU Classics

In a recent interview with TheDirect, Hauser shared his thoughts on the upcoming film.

"Everything I witnessed and took part in, everything I felt while in the presence of the creatives on the film, I believe we are the one to watch," he said.

He even compared it to two of Marvel’s most celebrated movies, Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther. According to Hauser, Fantastic Four: First Steps could be the next game-changing Marvel film.

"I believe this will go down in history as one of the ones that started a new tide of successful storytelling," he added.

Marvel's Track Record and Room for Error

While Hauser is confident about the film’s success, he also acknowledged that not every Marvel movie is a hit.

"Marvel is servicing a lot of folks, and they want to make a lot of entertainment for people to enjoy. None of us are 100%," he admitted.

He reminded fans that even the best directors have made disappointing movies, suggesting that while hopes are high, expectations should be realistic.

A Fresh Start for Fantastic Four: First Steps

This isn't the first attempt at a Fantastic Four reboot. The last one, Josh Trank’s 2015 version, failed to impress audiences and critics. After Disney acquired Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios took control, giving the iconic superhero team another chance.

Matt Shakman, known for his work on WandaVision, took over directing duties in September 2022, replacing Jon Watts. The film boasts a script written by Josh Friedman, Cameron Squires, Eric Pearson, Peter Cameron, Jeff Kaplan, and Ian Springer.

An All-Star Cast and a Major Villain

The Fantastic Four will be played by:

  • Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic)
  • Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (Invisible Woman)
  • Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (Human Torch)
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm (The Thing)

Supporting roles include Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Sarah Niles, and Ralph Ineson as the terrifying Galactus.

What's Next for Fantastic Four?

Set to hit theaters on July 25, 2025, Fantastic Four: First Steps will officially kick off Phase Six of the MCU. The newly assembled team will also return in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, ensuring their long-term presence in Marvel’s future.

With such a star-studded cast and Hauser’s high praise, fans are eager to see if Fantastic Four: First Steps truly lives up to the hype.
