French President Emmanuel Macron speaks to the press during the G7 Summit at the Pomeroy Kananaskis Mountain Lodge in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada on Monday.
The conflict between Israel and Iran has entered its fifth day, with missile exchanges intensifying and global leaders stepping in to push for peace. As explosions light up the skies over the Middle East, diplomatic efforts are also unfolding behind closed doors.
G7 Calls for Resolution Amid Rising Tensions
Leaders from the Group of Seven (G7) issued a joint statement urging a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. The appeal came after U.S. President Donald Trump finally agreed to sign the statement following revisions in the language, including softer wording on diplomacy and international law.
The final statement emphasized the need for broader de-escalation in the Middle East and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. It also reaffirmed support for Israel’s right to self-defense and condemned Iran as a source of regional instability.
“We have been consistently clear that Iran can never have a nuclear weapon,” the statement read.
US Embassy Warns Citizens in Israel
The US Embassy in Jerusalem reiterated its warning to American citizens in Israel. It said it is not in a position to assist or evacuate them due to the ongoing airspace and seaport closures.
Commercial flights remain suspended from Israel’s main Ben Gurion Airport, and land crossings to Jordan and Egypt have been suggested as the only current options for exit. The embassy has urged Americans to shelter in place and stay alert for missile and drone attacks.
Israeli Drone Shot Down Near Natanz
Iran reported the downing of an Israeli drone near its Natanz nuclear facility — a critical site for uranium enrichment. The drone was intercepted within one of Natanz’s air defense zones, according to Iranian officials.
Natanz has been a focal point in recent Israeli airstrikes, which caused severe damage to its power supply systems, emergency backup units, and infrastructure. Iran claims the facility only serves peaceful purposes, while Israel accuses Tehran of seeking nuclear weapon capabilities.
Iran Slams Attack on State Media
Iran’s Foreign Minister called Israel’s airstrike on a state television studio an act of “cowardice.” The attack disrupted a live broadcast and killed one IRIB (Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting) employee.
Israel defended the strike, stating the communication center was used for military operations. The IDF also claimed that civilians were given advanced warnings ahead of the bombing.
Macron Backs US Ceasefire Initiative
French President Emmanuel Macron revealed that Donald Trump has offered a ceasefire proposal to both Israel and Iran. Macron praised the initiative, stating that France would fully support it and pushing for immediate dialogue and restraint.
He stressed that attacks on civilian areas, cultural sites, and infrastructure must stop on both sides. “Nothing justifies these acts,” Macron said.
Israel Seeks US Support for Strategic Strikes
Israel's ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, highlighted the need for American military capabilities to target Iran’s deeply buried Fordow nuclear site. He said only the US possesses bombs capable of reaching the underground facility, though he also hinted at other options.
Leiter teased an upcoming Israeli military response, hinting that a major strike could unfold later in the week, possibly even surpassing the scale of Israel’s previous operations in Lebanon.

New Wave of Iranian Missiles Hits Israel
As of early morning in Israel, a fresh barrage of Iranian missiles was reported. The Israel Defense Forces urged civilians to enter bomb shelters and remain there as missile defense systems attempted to intercept incoming threats.
Air raid sirens echoed across northern Israel, reflecting the escalating cycle of attacks that has left both sides on high alert.
The Israel-Iran conflict shows no signs of slowing, as global leaders push for a ceasefire while military action intensifies. The world watches closely as diplomacy and warfare clash in one of the most dangerous showdowns in recent history.
