Cheez-It plans a busy lineup ahead, with new snack mixes, Crunch crackers, and fresh flavours coming to its Snap’d and Grooves ranges. Food & Wine
After years of waiting, gluten-free snack lovers now have a reason to celebrate. Cheez-It will soon release its first gluten-free cracker, marking a major change for one of the snack aisle’s most familiar names. The company says shoppers asked for this option more than almost any other product idea in its long history.
The new crackers begin appearing in stores in early February, with a suggested price of $4.49. Some shoppers say they already spotted them on shelves ahead of the official launch.
Same Taste, New Recipe
Early reactions suggest the company delivered on its promise. Food creator Zach Ciampa shared a side-by-side taste test and said, “The taste difference is absolutely marginal.” That reaction quickly spread among fans who long missed the classic cheesy square.
To recreate the familiar flavour and crunch, the development team used a mix of gluten-free rice, sorghum, and yellow corn flours. The recipe meets standards set by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization, giving shoppers confidence in the product’s safety.
Company Says It Took Time to Get Right
Cheez-It leaders say they focused on taste and texture before releasing the new crackers. “Cheez-It fans have been asking for a gluten-free option for years, and we’re thrilled to finally deliver it — with the same irresistible taste they love,” says Cara Tragseiler, senior brand director for Cheez-It. “We took the time to get it right, working carefully on the recipe and process to ensure gluten-free snackers can enjoy the same cheesy flavor and satisfying crunch without compromise.”
Fans Welcome an Easier Option
For years, fans tried to copy the famous flavour at home using ovens and air fryers. While those recipes helped, many found them time-consuming. The new product offers a ready-made option that feels familiar and easy.
Online communities focused on gluten-free food reacted quickly. Shoppers shared sightings at major retailers and posted early reviews. Most praised the flavour and texture, calling the launch long overdue.
More New Snacks on the Way
The gluten-free cracker does not stand alone. Cheez-It plans several other new products for 2026. These include an Ultimate Snack Mix that blends four existing flavours with salted pretzel squares. The company also plans a new Crunch cracker line in Kick’n Nacho Cheese, Zesty Jalapeño Cheddar, and Sharp White Cheddar.
Other additions include a Honey BBQ flavour in the Snap’d line and a taco-inspired Loaded Nacho option under the Grooves label. Cheez-It says all of these items begin rolling out in February.
A Broader Push for More Snackers
The launch shows how major snack brands now respond to changing diets and preferences. With strong early demand and positive feedback, Cheez-It appears ready to reach a wider group of snackers without changing what made its crackers popular in the first place.
