The 78th Cannes Film Festival is gearing up for an exciting return this May with a powerful jury lineup. Eight renowned personalities from the global film industry will join jury president Juliette Binoche to select this year’s Palme d’Or winner.

Diverse Jury Brings Global Voices Together

Hollywood star Halle Berry, Indian director Payal Kapadia, and Emmy-winning actor Jeremy Strong are among the chosen jurors. Joining them are Alba Rohrwacher from Italy, Korean filmmaker Hong Sangsoo, Congolese director Dieudo Hamadi, French-Moroccan author Leïla Slimani, and Mexican filmmaker Carlos Reygadas.

Each jury member brings a unique voice and background. Their experiences promise a thoughtful and balanced selection process for the festival's top prize.

Cannes Welcomes Back Familiar Faces

Some jurors are returning to the festival with strong ties to its legacy. Payal Kapadia made history last year as the first Indian filmmaker in the main competition in 30 years. Her acclaimed film All We Imagine As Light received praise for its poetic storytelling.

Jeremy Strong, best known for his role in Succession, also had a Cannes connection. His film The Apprentice featured in last year’s lineup, though Strong skipped the event due to his Broadway commitments.

Palme d'Or Race Heats Up with Global Talent

The Cannes Film Festival will run from May 13 to May 24, 2025. This year's competition promises a thrilling mix of storytelling, style, and bold vision.

Among the top contenders for the Palme d'Or are some of cinema’s most celebrated directors. Wes Anderson returns with The Phoenician Scheme, while Ari Aster presents the much-anticipated Eddington. Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value and Kelly Reichardt’s The Mastermind are also in the spotlight.

Richard Linklater brings Nouvelle Vague, and Lynne Ramsay's Die, My Love adds to the fierce competition. Each film is expected to bring fresh ideas, emotional depth, and visual brilliance to the Croisette.

Excitement Builds Ahead of the Cannes Festival

With such a stellar jury and a gripping list of competitors, Cannes 2025 is already generating buzz. The festival remains a global stage for discovering cinematic excellence and honoring visionary filmmakers.

As the countdown begins, film lovers worldwide await the jury’s final decision. The winner of the Palme d’Or will be announced at the closing ceremony on May 24.
