British actor Simon Fisher-Becker, known for his roles in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Doctor Who, has passed away at the age of 63.

His husband, Tony Dugdale, confirmed the news on Facebook, stating that Fisher-Becker died on Sunday. However, Dugdale did not disclose the cause of death.

Remembered as a Talented Actor and Kind Friend

Kim Barry, his agent at Jaffrey Management, also confirmed the news in a statement to CNN. She expressed deep sorrow, saying, “I lost not only a client but a close personal friend of 15 years. He was always kind, gracious, and genuinely interested in everyone.”

Fisher-Becker was widely respected in the entertainment industry for his talent and generosity. He was known for his engaging presence on and off the screen, making a lasting impression on colleagues and fans alike.

A Career Spanning TV, Film, and Voice Acting

His acting journey began in the 1990s with guest appearances on popular British TV shows like Hale and Pace and One Foot in the Grave. However, he gained international recognition for his role as the ghostly Fat Friar in the first Harry Potter film.

Fisher-Becker later became a familiar face to Doctor Who fans, portraying the recurring character Dorium Maldovar in episodes aired between 2010 and 2011. He also lent his voice to the Doctor Who Online Adventures series in 2014, bringing the character Gen. Nylan to life.

Beyond his television and film work, he was an active participant in fan conventions, where he enjoyed meeting admirers of his work. His presence in the sci-fi and fantasy genres made him a beloved figure among audiences.

Expanding His Craft Across Media

From 2013 to 2018, Fisher-Becker was part of the U.K. sci-fi drama Waterside. In later years, he transitioned into voice acting, contributing to projects like the Sherlock Holmes mini-series, the 2022 podcast Abnormal Stories, and Jenny – The Doctor’s Daughter in 2024, which became his final credited work.

In a 2023 interview with BTG, he reflected on his career and the industry, sharing that working with renowned actors had been a privilege. “Most of the actors I’ve worked with have been incredibly kind and supportive,” he said. “I wouldn’t be where I am today without their kindness.”

A Lasting Legacy

Fisher-Becker’s contributions to television, film, and voice acting will be remembered by fans worldwide. His work, especially in beloved franchises like Harry Potter and Doctor Who, leaves behind a legacy of entertainment and inspiration.
