As the inaugural season of Toronto's Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL) drew to a close, Blayre Turnbull, the captain of the Toronto team and a member of the Canadian national team, reflected on the mixed emotions swirling through her mind. Despite the bitter taste of defeat in their semifinal match against Minnesota, there was much to be proud of. The farewell game drew a crowd of 8,501 enthusiastic fans, a testament to the rapid growth of both the team and the league itself within just a year.

Taylor Heise emerged as the hero for Minnesota, scoring twice in the crucial fifth game of the semifinal series, including the game-winning goal in the third period.
