
19-year-old charged after highway 401 crash leaves one dead, others hurt. The Canadian Press
A late-night crash on Highway 401 in Etobicoke left one person dead and three others badly hurt. Police confirmed the collision happened around 1:15 a.m. Saturday near Dixon Road. The crash involved a car and a Ministry of Transportation truck.
Racing Suspicions
Ontario Provincial Police said they believe other cars may have been racing in the area just before the crash. Investigators are still gathering details and asking for dashcam footage.
Victims and Injuries
One person was thrown from the car during the impact. Paramedics rushed the victim to hospital, but doctors later confirmed the individual had died. Two other passengers in the car and the MTO truck driver also suffered serious injuries. They remain in hospital.
Charges Laid
Police charged the car’s driver, a 19-year-old man from Vaughan, with dangerous operation causing death and dangerous operation causing bodily harm. Officers said the investigation is ongoing.
Appeal for Witnesses
Authorities urged anyone who saw the crash or may have video footage from the area to come forward.
