Renowned Hong Kong musician Khalil Fong (Fang Datong) has passed away at the age of 41. After battling illness for five years with unwavering positivity, he breathed his last on February 21.
His music label, Fu Music, shared the heartbreaking news on Sina Weibo, stating, "Fong will continue his mission and dreams in another realm of life. The music and graphic novels he left behind are an eternal spiritual legacy."
A Struggle with Health Issues
Fong’s health struggles were not new. In 2010, he was hospitalized multiple times due to pneumothorax, a condition where a lung collapses due to air leaks. The condition was reportedly caused by overwork.
Despite these challenges, he made a comeback in 2024, revealing that while his health had improved, he had yet to achieve full recovery. Malaysian media outlet Oriental Daily reported his determination to return to the industry, even as he continued his recovery journey.

Fong gained widespread recognition with his debut solo album Soulboy in 2005. His unique musical style and soulful voice earned him a loyal fan base.
