The hit HBO series House of the Dragon will conclude with its fourth season, according to Ryan Condal, the show's creator and showrunner. Condal made the announcement during a press event on Sunday following the Season 2 finale.
He shared that Season 4 will be the last for the popular Game of Thrones prequel. Adding to this, Condal revealed that production for Season 3 is set to begin in early 2025, though a premiere date for this season has yet to be confirmed. Season 3 is expected to debut sometime in 2026.
Condal mentioned that, while discussions with HBO about the final season are still pending, the storytelling approach will remain consistent with the tone and style of Season 2.
The cast of Season 2 includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Returning actors also include Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.
New faces joining the cast in Season 2 are Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne.
