The B.C. Lions will field a scaled-down lineup for their first preseason game against Calgary on Saturday. Only two projected starters, Emmanuel Rugamba and Adrian Greene, are set to play, with the rest of the team's top players, including Vernon Adams Jr., sitting out. New additions Travis Fulgham and Christian Covington are also absent.
Jake Dolegala, recently signed from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, will start at quarterback, with Dakota Prukop and Chase Brice also expected to play. Rookie draft picks George Una and Cristophe Beaulieu will start in key positions, alongside Kieran Poissant, a territorial exemption from the CJFL's Westshore Rebels. Several newcomers in the receiving and defensive back positions will also have the opportunity to showcase their abilities.
