Jennifer Garner proved that winter weather cannot dull great style. The 53-year-old actress stepped out in New York City on Monday evening for a taping of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, wearing a striking twist on the classic little black dress.
Temperatures hovered near freezing, but that did not stop Garner from making a memorable entrance outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in Midtown Manhattan.
A Bold Fashion Statement
Garner arrived wrapped in a black coat and scarf to shield herself from the cold. Once outside the venue, she removed the layers and revealed a sophisticated asymmetric midi dress.
The black dress featured a dramatic cape that flowed down her back. The cape detail has emerged as a key fashion trend for 2026, appearing on recent spring runways from major designers.
The elegant cut of the dress highlighted her toned arms and legs. She paired the look with black ankle-strap heels, which added height and gave the outfit a polished finish.

Although the cold air clearly affected her, Garner continued smiling as she posed for photographers. She paused for several pictures, even as she shivered between shots.
Fitness Behind the Look
Garner’s fit appearance reflects her disciplined daily routine. The actress follows a structured morning schedule that combines exercise and personal commitments.
Before 9 a.m., she often completes a dance-cardio workout, responds to emails, and takes her children to school. “I love my early mornings,” she told Marie Claire.
In addition to cardio sessions, Garner focuses on building strength and improving mobility. “I realized that I had pursued strength and stamina at the expense of mobility, so I’m incorporating things I haven’t done in so long, like yoga. I have to back up to go forward,” she shared.
Her fitness program includes The Limit with Beth Nicely and gyrotonics, a low-impact movement system that uses specialized equipment. Gyrotonics encourages circular and spiralling motions, which help improve flexibility, balance, and core strength. The practice links movement with breathing, supporting overall body awareness.
Promoting a New Season
Garner’s appearance on the talk show marked the promotion of the second season of the thriller series The Last Thing He Told Me, which she executive-produced.
In the series, she plays Hannah Hall, a woman who forms a complicated bond with her teenage stepdaughter after her husband disappears under mysterious circumstances.
The second season continues the story several years later. Hannah’s husband, Owen, returns after spending five years in hiding. The storyline follows their attempt to rebuild relationships while confronting unresolved secrets.
Angourie Rice reprises her role as Bailey, the stepdaughter, and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau portrays Owen. The eight-episode season premieres on February 20, with new episodes airing weekly through April 10.
Confidence in Any Weather
Despite the winter chill, Garner handled the evening with poise. Her appearance combined bold fashion with confidence and a touch of resilience against the elements.
By blending a modern design with a timeless silhouette, she turned a simple little black dress into a standout moment on a cold New York night.
