Kristen Wiig joins the "Five-Timers Club" amidst celebrity banter and surprises during her fifth hosting stint on "Saturday Night Live. (NBC/SNL)

April 08, 2024

Kristen Wiig was greeted with a star-studded celebration as she returned to host "Saturday Night Live" for the fifth time, earning her a spot in the prestigious "Five-Timers Club."

Expressing her joy to the enthusiastic crowd, Wiig, 50, shared her excitement about joining the exclusive club. Reflecting on her time as a former cast member, she emphasized the significance of this milestone.

During the show, familiar faces like Paul Rudd and Paula Pell made playful appearances, teasing Wiig about her coveted "five-timers jacket." Even Matt Damon, who had only hosted twice, sported the honorary garment, citing a humorous explanation from producer Lorne Michaels.

Wiig's anticipation was slightly dampened when she discovered other SNL veterans like Jon Hamm, Fred Armisen, Will Forte, and Martin Short also adorned the emblematic jackets, despite not meeting the five-host threshold individually.

Perplexed by the situation, Wiig questioned the exclusivity of the club, feeling disappointed that the milestone didn't seem as special as she initially thought. However, Damon highlighted her unique position as the youngest and one of the few female members.

Despite the confusion, Wiig was surrounded by camaraderie as her fellow hosts rallied around her, culminating in a heartfelt moment before the unexpected arrival of Ryan Gosling, sparking further intrigue.

In a surprise twist, Gosling, though not yet meeting the hosting requirement, joined the festivities, adding to the evening's memorable events.

Wiig's return to SNL follows her recent reprisal of the iconic Target lady character, as she gears up to promote the brand's upcoming Target Circle week.
