Lady Eliza Spencer has stepped happily into a new chapter of her life. The 33-year-old socialite, who is the niece of Princess Diana, celebrated her engagement to longtime partner Channing Millerd with an elegant rooftop gathering overlooking the ocean.
The party took place on Dec. 20 in Cape Town. Close friends and family joined the couple for an intimate evening by the sea, marking the start of what Lady Eliza described as her bridal era.
A Custom Look for a Special Night
For the occasion, Lady Eliza chose a one-of-a-kind outfit created by fashion house Galia Lahav. She worked closely with the design team and attended fittings at the brand’s London flagship to perfect the look.
The custom minidress featured a square neckline and delicate floral lace layered over sheer fabric. The skirt flared just above the knee, giving the dress a modern yet romantic feel. She completed the outfit with pointed slingback heels and drop earrings with a soft touch of blue.
Millerd matched her refined style with a crisp blue shirt, white trousers, and grey loafers.
Loved Ones Gather for the Moment
Family members filled the guest list, including Lady Eliza’s twin sister Lady Amelia Spencer, older sister Lady Kitty Spencer, her mother Victoria Lockwood, and her half-brother Samuel Aitken.

In a recent interview, Lady Eliza shared that the couple planned to host “around 50 of our closest friends and family,” keeping the celebration personal and relaxed.
A Proposal to Remember
Lady Eliza and Millerd announced their engagement in July after nine years together. The proposal unfolded during a trip to Santorini, where Millerd arranged a romantic setting on a beachfront balcony filled with flowers and candles.
“I laughed and I cried. I don't know how he pulled it all off, but it was so special. He did the most amazing job – above and beyond. I couldn't have dreamt of such a beautiful setting. It really was a dream come true,” she said.
Millerd also designed the engagement ring himself. The ring features a 2.5-carat pear-shaped diamond set on a platinum band. The stone came from South Africa, a meaningful choice since both grew up there.
Fashion and Family Legacy
Lady Eliza has built a reputation for her elegant public appearances and subtle nods to her late aunt’s style. In recent years, she and Lady Amelia have appeared at major fashion events and taken on ambassador roles for British brands.
Her engagement celebration blended modern fashion with personal meaning, setting the tone for the months ahead as wedding plans begin to take shape.
