WWE superstar Liv Morgan has been sidelined after suffering a painful shoulder injury during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw. The incident occurred during her singles match against Kairi Sane on June 16 at the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Known for her high-energy style and fearless performances, Morgan's unexpected injury has left fans and WWE officials concerned about her future in the ring.
Painful Fall Ends the Match Early
Morgan’s match started normally but took a sudden turn just minutes in. Attempting a single-leg takedown, she landed face-first on the mat—right shoulder hitting hard. The impact left her in visible pain. She screamed and rolled out of the ring immediately, clutching her shoulder.
The referee stepped in quickly, shielding Morgan from further contact as medical staff rushed to her side. With her unable to continue, the match was called off, and Kairi Sane was declared the winner by forfeit. Morgan was escorted out of the arena for medical evaluation.
Dislocated Shoulder Confirmed
WWE commentator Michael Cole confirmed that Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder during the fall. Though the full extent of the injury has yet to be confirmed, such injuries often keep athletes out of action for weeks — sometimes months.
According to the Mayo Clinic, recovery can be relatively short if surgery is avoided, with improvement expected in a few weeks. However, if surgical repair is necessary, the recovery timeline could stretch to five or six months.
A Setback for a Champion Workhorse
Liv Morgan has become a cornerstone of WWE’s women’s division. A four-time WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion, she has built a reputation for grit, charisma, and in-ring resilience. Most recently, she and Raquel Rodriguez held the titles after winning them on Raw After WrestleMania on April 21. Their reign ended at WrestleMania 41, where they lost to Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria.
Despite losing the titles, Morgan remained central to WWE’s plans. Reports suggested she was set to enter a new storyline involving current Women’s World Champion Iyo Sky and returning legend Nikki Bella, who made her comeback to WWE programming on June 9.
Injury History Raises Concerns
This isn’t Morgan’s first brush with shoulder trouble. In 2023, she faced a similar injury during a match with Rhea Ripley. That incident revealed a labrum tear, which required surgery and kept her out of action for six months.
Given her previous injury, WWE medical teams will likely proceed with caution. Another severe shoulder injury could impact not just her return timeline but also her in-ring career long-term.
What’s Next for Liv Morgan?
For now, Morgan's immediate WWE future is uncertain. If the injury is minor, she may return within weeks. But if surgery is needed again, fans may not see her in action until the end of the year. Either way, WWE will need to reshuffle plans around her absence — especially if the teased rivalry with Iyo Sky and Nikki Bella was set to take center stage.
Morgan’s injury is a blow not only to her personal momentum but also to WWE’s broader women’s division storyline. Still, given her track record of comebacks, fans remain hopeful she’ll return stronger than ever.
