The long-awaited glimpse of Sony and Nintendo’s live-action Legend of Zelda film has finally been released. Fans got their first look on Monday through images shared on the Nintendo Today app, sparking instant excitement across the gaming community.
A Fresh Vision of Link and Zelda
The images feature young stars Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as Princess Zelda and Link. Both appear in a sweeping green field, dressed in detailed costumes inspired by the iconic franchise. Zelda holds her trademark bow and arrow, while both characters sport the classic Hylian-pointed ears.
The early visuals suggest that the filmmakers are aiming for a faithful yet cinematic interpretation of the game’s fantasy world.
Wes Ball Brings Hyrule to Life
The film is directed by Wes Ball, known for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and The Maze Runner. His experience with large-scale world-building has already raised expectations for the project.
The movie is scheduled to release in theaters on May 7, 2027, giving fans plenty of time to speculate about the plot and visual style.
Miyamoto Confirms the Cast
Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto, who is producing the film, confirmed the casting earlier this year. In a social media post, he expressed excitement about the actors bringing Link and Zelda to the big screen.
His involvement has reassured long-time fans who hope the adaptation will remain true to the spirit of the beloved games.
Rising Stars in Key Roles
Bo Bragason, who plays Zelda, is known for her performances in BBC One’s Three Girls and The Jetty. She also appeared in Disney+’s Renegade Nell and recently starred in the vampire comedy The Radleys.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, cast as Link, voiced the title character in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action Pinocchio. He also gained attention as Miles in The Haunting of Bly Manor. His recent work includes the Canadian comedy Son of a Critch and a guest appearance in Netflix’s The Sandman.
A New Era for a Legendary Franchise
The live-action Legend of Zelda marks one of Nintendo’s most ambitious screen adaptations yet. With a seasoned director, a passionate producer, and a young cast already embraced by fans, the film is shaping up to be one of 2027’s most anticipated releases.
As more details emerge, excitement around Hyrule’s live-action debut is only expected to grow.
