Machine Gun Kelly has left his fans in shock and mourning after unveiling a massive blackout tattoo that covers his entire upper chest and a majority of his arms. The tattoo, which includes his nipples, was shared by the Grammy-nominated rapper on Instagram, showcasing a significant departure from his previously colorful tattoos that celebrated his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio.
The tattoo was done by Roxx and Cats, two globally recognized black-work-only tattoo artists with over five decades of combined experience. According to representatives for the artists, the tattoo was completed over the Christmas and New Year holidays, with MGK being described as the "toughest client" Roxx has ever worked with.
In the Instagram post revealing the tattoo, MGK captioned it as being for "spiritual purposes only." Roxx, who also shared a photo of the tattoo on her own account, described the rapper as a "champ" and thanked him for the "joy and the pain."
Fans were quick to express their disbelief and emotional attachment to MGK's previous tattoos, particularly those that paid homage to Cleveland. Some fans speculated that the decision to cover up these tattoos was a move to change his skin color or to be accepted by the rap community, while others simply expressed their shock and confusion.
Despite the mixed reactions, MGK's next release is anticipated to be a rap album, although an official release date has not yet been announced.
