Patrick Mahomes put on a show as the Kansas City Chiefs edged out the Buffalo Bills 32-29 on Sunday night to secure a Super Bowl LVII rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles. Mahomes dazzled with 245 passing yards, a touchdown throw, and two rushing scores, while the Chiefs’ defence stepped up at key moments to clinch the victory. This marks Kansas City’s third consecutive Super Bowl appearance, a feat only a few NFL teams have achieved.

The Chiefs will face the Eagles, a team they defeated in the Super Bowl two years ago. Earlier on Sunday, Philadelphia cruised to a 55-23 win over the Washington Commanders, setting the stage for a showdown in New Orleans on February 9.

After the game, a jubilant Mahomes credited his team’s resilience. “This was a complete team effort,” he said. “When we needed stops, our defence delivered. When we needed plays, our offence stepped up. That’s what makes this team special.”

The Chiefs’ win over the Bills was another thrilling chapter in their growing playoff rivalry. Tied at 29 late in the game, Mahomes orchestrated a flawless drive, setting up Harrison Butker’s go-ahead field goal with just over three minutes remaining. Buffalo had one final chance, but Kansas City's defence thwarted quarterback Josh Allen’s attempts, sealing the victory for the Chiefs.

Kansas City’s Kareem Hunt added a rushing touchdown, while Xavier Worthy contributed six catches for 85 yards and a score. Meanwhile, Buffalo’s James Cook had 85 rushing yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Chiefs’ balanced attack.

The win also marked Kansas City’s ninth consecutive playoff victory and solidified their dominance over Buffalo, having eliminated them from the postseason four times since 2021. Chiefs coach Andy Reid and chairman Clark Hunt both praised the team’s determination, with Hunt calling the win “another special moment” in the franchise’s history.

The Eagles, on the other hand, made a statement with their dominant performance against Washington. Quarterback Jalen Hurts accounted for four touchdowns—three rushing and one passing—while Saquon Barkley rushed for 118 yards and three scores. The 55 points set a record for the most scored in a conference championship game since 1970.

Hurts played through a knee injury but showed no signs of slowing down. “He’s a warrior,” Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said. “He stepped up and led us to another Super Bowl.”

Now, the stage is set for an epic rematch. Both teams are hungry for glory, but only one will emerge victorious on February 9.
