January 15, 2024

Hollywood stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, known for their dynamic on-screen chemistry in the recent film Barbie, are sparking rumors of a potential reunion in an untitled Ocean's Eleven prequel. The speculation arose as Robbie graced the red carpet at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards held at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California.

In an exclusive interview with ET's Deidre Behar, Robbie addressed the casting reports, stating that the prequel is still in the development stage, and the rumors might not be entirely accurate. Despite the uncertainty, she expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of working with Gosling again, emphasizing their shared desire to find another project together.

"[The movie] is still in development, so that's not necessarily true. But we love working together, and we want to find something else to do together," Robbie mentioned, maintaining an optimistic outlook. Although nothing is confirmed, Robbie conveyed her hope by saying, "I've got my fingers crossed."

However, the spotlight for Robbie during the event remained on her acclaimed film Barbie, in which she not only portrayed the titular character but also served as an executive producer. Dressed in a custom crimson Balmain gown paired with striking Lorraine Schwartz diamond jewelry, Robbie described her outfit as "Barbie-esque," capturing the essence of the film without directly replicating the iconic doll.

Explaining her fashion choices for the red carpet, Robbie highlighted the maximalist approach taken throughout the Barbie movie. She mentioned, "Everything about the Barbie movie was maximalist, that was the approach, you know, from the very beginning. So it felt only fitting to go all-out with the press tour as well."

The film Barbie, which garnered significant attention for Robbie's meticulous recreations of iconic Barbie outfits for various red carpet appearances, received widespread acclaim. Robbie expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support the movie received, both from cinema-goers and critics. With a record-breaking 18 nominations, the film stood out at the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards.

"It's so nice because it's received so much love out in the world by the people who go to the cinemas, so to receive the nominations from the critics as well is so special," Robbie shared, acknowledging the rarity of unanimous appreciation for a film. She described the recognition as "really nice" and appreciated the alignment between audience and critical acclaim.

The 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards, where Robbie made her statements, aired on Sunday, January 14, at 7 p.m. ET/ 4 p.m. PT on The CW. For comprehensive coverage and a complete list of the night's winners, viewers can visit ETonline.com.
