Marseille has put forward a bid of £27 million plus additional incentives to sign a Manchester United player who is currently out of favor.

Marseille is aggressively pursuing Mason Greenwood, effectively sidelining Lazio in the race to acquire the Manchester United player. After an impressive loan spell at Getafe last season, the 22-year-old forward is seeking a fresh start away from Old Trafford.

According to reports from the Daily Mail, Manchester United is increasingly likely to receive £27 million from Marseille for Greenwood, which includes a significant sell-on clause. This potential sale is expected to provide a substantial boost to United's summer transfer budget, exciting fans who anticipate new signings in the upcoming weeks.

Sources indicate Greenwood will be Manchester United's first player sold this summer, following discussions held with club officials at Carrington. Meanwhile, Serie A club Lazio distanced themselves from Greenwood, with their president suggesting they have alternative targets in mind, paving the way for Marseille to close in on signing the forward.

Alexis Bernard, editor of Le10Sport, initially doubted Marseille's financial capacity to make such an offer for Greenwood. However, former Marseille and France defender Adil Rami, who is fluent in English, has been actively in touch with Greenwood and is reportedly searching for a suitable residence for him.

In other transfer news, Donny van de Beek is set to leave Manchester United after a disappointing four-year tenure during which he struggled to settle. The Dutch midfielder is on the verge of joining La Liga side Girona. Manchester United is prepared to accept an initial fee of £450,000 for van de Beek, with potential add-ons that could escalate the total deal value to £16 million.

The impending departure of van de Beek, who was acquired for £35 million in 2020, highlights the financial implications of player acquisitions and sales in modern football.
