Starting August 12, McDonald’s is launching a special meal inspired by its classic McDonaldland world. This limited-time offer brings back the fun and colorful characters many people grew up with during the 1970s. The fast-food giant is giving fans a chance to revisit their favorite childhood memories with this nostalgic meal.

What’s inside the McDonaldland Meal?

Each McDonaldland Meal includes:

  • Fries
  • Your choice of a Quarter Pounder with Cheese or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets
  • A mystery shake in pastel blue and pink called the Mt. McDonaldland Shake

McDonald’s hasn’t revealed the flavor of this shake. They’re calling it a “secret concoction” that matches the magical theme of McDonaldland. The color combo is inspired by the fantasy world’s playful volcano and soft pink clouds.

Get ready for fun surprises

Every meal also comes with a collectible tin. There are six different tin designs, each showing a McDonaldland character. Inside each tin, you’ll find cool items like stickers, postcards, and other small surprises. These collectibles are meant to give fans a fun blast from the past.

Who are the McDonaldland characters?

McDonaldland was a big part of McDonald’s ads and restaurant design from 1971 to 2003. The land featured many fun and quirky characters like:

  • Ronald McDonald
  • Grimace
  • Mayor McCheese
  • Birdie
  • Hamburglar
  • Fry Friends

In the early 2000s, McDonald’s slowly stopped using these characters in marketing. But now, they’re back in full swing. This time, the fast-food chain is taking fans even deeper into this dreamlike world.

A magical land comes to life

The campaign features Mt. McDonaldland — a pretend volcano with sweet blue “lava.” Above it float pink clouds, setting the dreamy scene shown in the animated video ad. The video looks like the stop-motion style used in the 1970s, adding to the retro feel.

A train takes visitors through the mountain-filled land, adding even more charm to the fantasy. The meal and video aim to bring smiles to both new fans and those who remember McDonaldland from the past.

More fun with special brand tie-ins

McDonald’s has also teamed up with two popular brands for this campaign:

  • Away (a luggage company): Starting August 18, they’ll offer free McDonaldland bag charms and luggage tags.
  • Pacsun (a fashion brand): From August 12, fans can buy colorful McDonaldland-themed sweat sets and graphic tees.

Get it before it’s gone

The McDonaldland Meal will be available only while supplies last. So if you’re eager to try the Mt. McDonaldland Shake or grab one of the collectible tins, make sure to visit your nearest McDonald’s soon. Want just the shake? No problem—ask a staff member, and they’ll help you out.

Whether it’s your first time in McDonaldland or you’re just reliving your childhood, this meal promises fun for all ages.
