Food and Wine

While many people across the country have been feeling the sting of rising fast food prices lately, McDonald’s has a special way of keeping its customers coming back: the Happy Meal. Known for its value-packed offering of a main item, side, drink, dessert, and toy, the Happy Meal remains a favourite. Its appealing packaging and enticing extras often make it worth the splurge, even at $12 for themed boxes like the recent Cactus Plant Flea Market collection with McDonald’s character figurines.
Now, McDonald’s is adding a new twist to its Happy Meal lineup. Following the recent nostalgic Collector’s Meal, which featured tumblers with throwback designs, McDonald’s is rumoured to be introducing a Crocs-themed Happy Meal. This new promotion would include a miniature Croc slip-on shoe keychain as the toy.

The details of this new Happy Meal haven't been officially confirmed by McDonald’s yet. The information surfaced through the Instagram account @snackolator, which shared an image of a Happy Meal box alongside 10 different Crocs keychain designs. These designs feature McDonald ’s-themed elements such as the Golden Arches, fries, Happy Meal boxes, and McNuggets. The caption of the Instagram post hints at these keychains coming in a special Crocs box and mentions that while the specific designs might vary in the U.S., the Happy Meal itself is definitely on its way.

Although McDonald’s hasn’t made an official statement about this potential release, the Crocs keychains have already made their debut in other countries. For example, a TikTok video from Singapore showcases an unboxing of these items.

This wouldn’t be McDonald’s first collaboration with Crocs. In November 2023, the two brands launched a collection of footwear and accessories that included clogs, sandals, charms, and socks featuring iconic McDonald’s characters like Grimace, Birdie, and Hamburglar. These special McDonald ’s-themed Crocs shoes, which cost between $70 and $75, are more expensive than the usual $49.99 for a standard pair of Crocs.

Some social media users have pointed out that while the Crocs keychains are cute, they don’t offer much in the way of interactive play compared to traditional Happy Meal toys. A TikTok video suggests that the keychains might come with stickers that can be used to decorate them, similar to Jibbitz charms on real Crocs. Beyond that, the keychains can be worn on fingers, reminiscent of those old finger skateboards.
