McDonald’s Canada launches McVeggie sandwich nationwide at restaurants September 16. (McDonald’s)

McDonald’s Canada will launch the McVeggie™ sandwich nationwide on September 16. The move follows a strong response to earlier tests in British Columbia, Ontario, and New Brunswick. The company said the positive feedback showed a growing appetite for more plant-based and inclusive menu choices.

What’s Inside the McVeggie

The McVeggie features a crispy, breaded veggie patty made from a mix of vegetables. Ingredients include carrots, peas, corn, soybeans, zucchini, broccoli, and green beans. The patty comes topped with shredded lettuce and a creamy mayo-style sauce, served on a toasted sesame bun. For spice lovers, McDonald’s is also adding a Spicy Habanero McVeggie, finished with their creamy Habanero sauce.

Meeting Customer Demand

“Canadians asked for more options to meet modern lifestyles, and we listened,” said Francesca Cardarelli, Chief Marketing Officer at McDonald’s Canada. “The McVeggie isn’t just a sandwich, it’s a celebration of bold flavour and our commitment to serving all guests and their evolving tastes.”

Cardarelli added that the launch reflects McDonald’s focus on creating memorable experiences with flavourful items for every Canadian.

More Inclusive Choices on the Menu

The McVeggie joins other recent additions aimed at offering variety. Starting September 16, customers can also order a Grilled Cheese Happy Meal® and a Lettuce and Tomato Snack Wrap® Happy Meal®. Earlier this year, McDonald’s introduced Oat Beverage for select McCafé drinks, adding another alternative for guests with different preferences.

Franchisee Reaction

“When we introduced the McVeggie in our restaurants during the test earlier this year, the response from guests was incredible,” said Kathy Damrell, a McDonald’s franchisee in Ontario. “They appreciated having a veggie patty that delivered on both flavour and quality. It’s so rewarding to see that excitement, and I’m thrilled McDonald’s Canada is making it available across the country.”

A New Option for Canadians

Guests can order the McVeggie on its own or as part of an Extra Value Meal with McDonald’s World Famous Fries™, made from 100% Canadian potatoes. The new sandwich reflects McDonald’s effort to bring more variety and inclusivity to its menu, ensuring there is something for everyone.
