Air Canada reports that a mother and her newborn child are reportedly in good condition following an unexpected mid-flight delivery after the woman went into premature labor.

According to a statement released by the airline, the flight originating from St. Lucia and bound for Toronto had to be diverted to Bermuda last week due to a passenger experiencing premature labor.

Prior to the aircraft's landing, the woman gave birth with the assistance of two doctors who happened to be passengers on board and offered their medical expertise.

Upon landing, the Air Canada Rouge flight was met by medical personnel who transported the mother and her baby to a local hospital, both in stable condition.

The airline has confirmed, "We understand the mother and child are in healthy condition."

Air Canada expressed gratitude to the assisting doctors and commended the professionalism of the flight crew.
