Montreal police report that a 42-year-old woman discovered in an apartment fire was a victim of homicide. The incident occurred in the Pointe-aux-Trembles neighborhood, with firefighters responding around 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Despite attempts to revive her, the woman could not be saved. Upon further investigation, authorities found signs of violence on her body, concluding that she was killed prior to the fire. This marks the city's ninth homicide of the year.
Adjacent to the crime scene, another woman was found with injuries to her lower body and was bleeding. She was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment. While her condition is critical, she is regarded as a crucial witness to the incident. However, she has not yet been interviewed by investigators from the major crimes unit, who are overseeing the case.
