The Edmonton Oilers answered back with a dominant 3-0 win over the Dallas Stars on Friday night. With this shutout victory, the Oilers tied the Western Conference Final series 1-1.

Connor Brown Battles Injury, Scores Big

Connor Brown had a rough start to the night. Early in the second period, he took a skate to the mouth from Stars forward Mikael Granlund. Despite the blow, Brown stayed in the game. Minutes later, he found the back of the net, making it 3-0 for Edmonton.

It was Brown’s first goal in 36 games, with his last coming back on February 27. His grit and timing gave the Oilers a strong cushion heading into the final period.

Stuart Skinner Posts Another Playoff Shutout

Goaltender Stuart Skinner stood tall in Game 2. He stopped all 25 shots from the Stars, earning his third shutout of this postseason. Skinner has now posted four career playoff shutouts—three of them in just his last four games.

The Oilers goalie was rock-solid from start to finish, helping his team bounce back after a rough Game 1.

Nugent-Hopkins Strikes Early on Power Play

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins opened the scoring less than six minutes into the game. With the Oilers on a power play after a boarding penalty to Granlund, Nugent-Hopkins tipped in a shot from Evan Bouchard.

The goal gave Edmonton a 1-0 lead and set the tone early. It also marked Nugent-Hopkins’ second power-play goal in as many games. He later assisted on Brown’s goal, capping off a strong two-point night.

Kulak Adds to the Lead

Defenceman Brett Kulak doubled the lead for the Oilers midway through the second period. His goal came off a deflection and was followed quickly by Brown’s tally.

Kulak’s goal had assists from Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl—two of Edmonton’s most reliable playoff performers.

McDavid and Draisaitl Reach 20 Playoff Points

With their assists, both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl hit 20 points in the postseason.

This marks McDavid’s fourth straight postseason with at least 20 points. He now joins NHL legends Sergei Fedorov, Bryan Trottier, and Mike Bossy with that milestone streak. Draisaitl reached the same mark for the second year in a row.

Dallas Faces Injuries and Missed Chances

It wasn’t all bad for Dallas in terms of effort, but the breaks didn’t go their way. Roope Hintz left early in the third period after a slash from Oilers defenceman Darnell Nurse.

Hintz fell awkwardly and could not put weight on his left leg as he left the ice. Nurse received a minor penalty following a review for a potential major. The Stars couldn’t capitalize, and the injury to Hintz added to their frustrations.

Series Heads to Edmonton

The Oilers will now head home with momentum on their side. Game 3 is set for Sunday at Rogers Place, where Edmonton holds a 4-1 record this postseason.

Friday night’s shutout win was more than just a victory—it was a statement. Edmonton proved they can bounce back, play smart, and shut the door when it counts.

With the series tied and the home crowd ready, the Oilers are in a strong position as the Western Conference Final continues.
