Ooma, a prominent communications platform, has introduced its AirDial® service in Canada, offering a vital solution for businesses grappling with the phase-out of Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS) across the nation.

This step comes as major Canadian providers like Bell Canada and TELUS prepare to retire their copper networks, signaling the rapid decline of POTS nationwide. This transition, known as the "copper sunset," presents challenges for businesses reliant on POTS for critical equipment such as fire alarms, elevators, and building entry systems.

Ooma AirDial presents a ready-made alternative to POTS lines, providing an analog-to-digital phone service tailored for compatibility with business equipment and regulatory standards. The service encompasses hardware, software, wireless connectivity, and remote management—all offered by a single provider.

Thad White, Ooma’s vice president of product management, expressed excitement about the Canadian launch: “Since the inception of Ooma AirDial in the United States, we've been eager to extend its availability north of the border.”

Established in Canada since 2005 and maintaining an office in Vancouver, Ooma aims to meet the needs of businesses confronting escalating POTS expenses and network obsolescence. The AirDial service offers cost-effective and compliant telecommunications solutions as businesses transition away from traditional phone services.

The introduction of Ooma AirDial in Canada follows demand from U.S. clients seeking cross-border service. With the phase-out of POTS accelerating, Canadian businesses now have access to a dependable, forward-looking communications alternative.
