Napoli's forward, Victor Osimhen, has hinted at uncertainties surrounding his future at the Italian club, despite recently committing to a new contract. Speaking on CBS' Morning Footy, Osimhen shared insights into his career plans, revealing that he has already made decisions about the next phase, with potential interest from the English Premier League.
Acknowledging the ongoing speculations, Osimhen stated, "Around 60% of the discussions or rumours revolve around a possible link to the Premier League. However, being recognized as one of the top strikers globally brings about such speculations. The EPL is undeniably one of the most prominent leagues worldwide. Currently, I am with Napoli, having recently signed a new contract, and I am enjoying my time with the team."
Looking ahead, the striker hinted at a decision looming at the end of the season, emphasizing his autonomy in career choices. He expressed confidence in his ability to navigate his path, highlighting past experiences where initial plans faced challenges but eventually aligned with his goals. Despite the recent contract extension and his positive experience at Napoli, Osimhen asserted that he has predetermined his next career move.
"As the season concludes, I've already made up my mind. I have a clear understanding of what I want for my career. From the beginning, I've been the one making decisions, and things have worked out well for me. Even when faced with setbacks initially, I've stuck to my plan. At this point, I aim to finish the season strongly, spend quality time with my daughter, and then formally announce the decision I've already finalized," Osimhen shared.
Having scored eight goals in 18 games for Napoli this season, Osimhen's recent statements have sparked renewed speculation about his future. Currently participating in the 2024 AFCON, the Nigerian striker is set to return to Napoli in a few weeks. Despite securing a contract extension until 2026 last December, including a release clause of approximately $143 million, Osimhen's future with the club remains uncertain, casting a shadow on his status after securing the 2022-23 Scudetto with Napoli.
