Pamela Anderson recently shared a surprising story during her appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast. When asked if she had ever been mistaken for another celebrity, Anderson revealed a shocking encounter that occurred on an airplane. A man, believing she was a member of the country music group The Chicks, once approached her in an aggressive manner, leading to a frightening confrontation.
The Golden Globe-nominated actress and star of The Last Showgirl, Anderson, recalled the experience, saying, “This one time, I was on a flight, and this guy came up to me and asked, ‘Do you know what this country’s done for you?’” At first, she was confused and didn’t know how to respond, but soon realized the man was becoming increasingly upset. “Then this stewardess had to handcuff him to the chair because he was trying to attack me,” she added.
The confusion arose because the man mistook Anderson for one of the members of The Chicks, the famous country trio formerly known as the Dixie Chicks. Anderson, visibly shaken, continued, “I almost got killed on a plane. I was scared to fly after that, a little bit.”

While she laughed while recounting the incident, Anderson made it clear that it had been no laughing matter at the time. Although she didn’t mention when exactly the incident occurred, it likely took place around 2003, when the group faced widespread backlash following a controversial remark made by lead singer Natalie Maines about then-President George W. Bush. The band's reputation was severely damaged, and their music sales took a significant hit.
Maines later apologized for her comments but also stated that she had no regrets, explaining that while she apologized for disrespecting the office of the president, she didn’t feel Bush deserved any respect.
In 2020, The Chicks officially dropped "Dixie" from their name, recognizing the term’s historical association with the Confederacy and its ties to racism in the United States.
