Paramount Plus Canada has revealed plans to expand its Canadian content with the development of two new domestically-produced comedies. One narrative centers around a widowed limo driver navigating the challenges of raising his children solo, while the other storyline revolves around an A-list actor presented with an unexpected opportunity to become the country's prime minister.

This announcement follows the streamer's previous declaration in June to embark on creating Canadian projects. Now, Paramount Plus is broadening its portfolio with two additional productions originating from Boat Rocker, a prominent production company.

The first project, "Bensen," conceived by creator Clara Altimas, delves into the life of a limo driver striving to maintain his reputation as a "fun dad" after the tragic loss of his wife. Altimas brings her writing experience from previous involvement in CBC's "Kim's Convenience" and its spinoff series, "Strays," to this new venture.

Simultaneously, Paramount Plus is in the developmental phase of "Elected," a comedy series crafted by Michael McGowan, known for his work in directing and writing notable films like "All My Puny Sorrows" and "Score: A Hockey Musical."

In addition to these comedy series, Paramount Plus Canada is gearing up for the debut of its inaugural original documentary, titled "500 Days in the Wild." The documentary is scheduled to premiere at the Whistler International Film Festival, set for Friday, before embarking on a limited theatrical release in the upcoming year. Following its theatrical run, the documentary will find its place on the Paramount Plus platform for audiences to stream.
