A variety of MadeGood Granola Bars from Riverside Natural Foods. Yahoo

MadeGood, a well-known brand for its healthy and minimally processed granola bars, has issued a voluntary recall of certain products due to possible metal contamination. The company, part of Riverside Natural Foods, reported that some of its granola bars might contain small pieces of metal, posing a risk to customers.
Metal fragments in food can cause serious health risks, including damage to teeth, cuts in the mouth or throat, and even choking or internal injuries. Although MadeGood received seven complaints about the issue, the company reassured consumers that no injuries have been reported so far. The brand emphasized that this recall is being initiated as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of its customers.

Riverside Natural Foods has already conducted a thorough investigation into the matter. They discovered that the problem originated from one of their manufacturing facilities. After identifying the cause, they have implemented new processes to prevent this issue from happening again.

The recall affects a range of MadeGood granola bars, including popular flavors like regular-sized chocolate chip, mixed berry, chocolate drizzled birthday cake, and cookies and cream. Additionally, mini-sized Halloween chocolate chip and holiday sprinkles bars are also impacted. Importantly, other MadeGood snacks, such as granola bites, have not been affected by the recall.

These potentially contaminated bars were produced between January and November of 2024, with Best By Dates extending through 2025 and even into 2026. Riverside Natural Foods has provided a list of affected products and UPCs, so consumers can check if their bars are part of the recall.

If you have purchased any of the affected MadeGood granola bars, the company encourages you to return them to the store for a full refund. While no injuries have been reported among the millions of products sold, it's always best to take precautions and avoid consuming the affected products.

If you're a fan of granola bars and looking for a safer alternative, consider making your own at home using simple ingredients. Homemade granola bars are easy to prepare and can be customized to your taste, ensuring a healthy and safe snack option.
