In Montreal, a distressing incident unfolded early Saturday morning as a Quebec youth baseball coach faced serious injuries when the bus carrying players to a Florida training camp veered off the road.

Mathieu Adam, the coach of the Marie-Rivier secondary school team in Drummondville, Quebec, disclosed that the mishap occurred while the bus was traversing through Virginia. The unfortunate event resulted in injuries to coach Yannick Powers.

Providing details, Adam expressed in a statement that Powers received prompt medical attention and was promptly transported to the hospital. Fortunately, despite the severity of the injuries, Powers is anticipated to make a full recovery.

Fortunately, the remainder of the occupants on the bus escaped serious harm. No other injuries of significance were reported.

The players aboard the bus represent high school students from various schools in the Marie-Rivier vicinity and surrounding regions.

Adam further conveyed that the players, after the unsettling turn of events, are now en route back to Quebec but via a different bus, ensuring their safe return home.
