Jason Robertson scored three goals in the second period to record his first career natural hat trick as the Dallas Stars held off the Edmonton Oilers' comeback bid to pick up a 4-3 win.
Jason Robertson stole the show with a natural hat trick in the second period, leading the Dallas Stars to a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. The win marks Dallas’ third straight and extends their unbeaten streak to six games (4-0-2).
Stars Dominate Early
Wyatt Johnston opened the scoring for Dallas, while Roope Hintz contributed by assisting all three of Robertson’s goals. The Stars controlled the game early, surging to a 4-0 lead late in the second period.
Edmonton, missing Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl due to injuries, struggled to keep pace. Their comeback attempt fell short despite late goals from Corey Perry, Adam Henrique, and Zach Hyman.
Goal-tending Drama for Edmonton
The Oilers faced another setback when starting goalie Stuart Skinner left the game in the third period after a collision with Mikko Rantanen. Skinner had made 17 saves before the injury. Backup Calvin Pickard replaced him, stopping all three shots he faced.
Meanwhile, Jake Oettinger had a standout night for Dallas, making 42 saves to secure the win.
Injury Scares for Oilers
The Oilers’ injury troubles nearly worsened in the second period when Zach Hyman and Evan Bouchard both left the ice within minutes of each other. Hyman collided awkwardly with Mason Marchment, while a shot struck Bouchard. Fortunately, both returned to finish the game.
Skinner’s injury in the third period, however, was a major concern for Edmonton, adding to their already depleted lineup.

Robertson’s Historic Performance
Robertson’s hat trick was the highlight of the game. His third goal, a power-play tip-in, was his 32nd of the season, making him the sixth player in franchise history to record three 30-goal seasons before turning 26.
Since January 1, Robertson has been the NHL’s leading goal-scorer with 23 goals, solidifying his place among the league’s elite.
Dallas’ Impressive Season
The Stars continue to be one of the hottest teams in the NHL, boasting a 16-4-3 record since January 24—the best in the league during that stretch. They also lead the NHL with five players who have 25 or more goals this season, including Robertson, Matt Duchene, Hintz, Johnston, and Rantanen.
Edmonton, in comparison, has three such players, but only Hyman was in the lineup on Wednesday due to injuries.
