King Charles and Queen Camilla's annual Christmas card features a photo taken in the grounds of Villa Wolkonsky, in Rome, during their state visit to Italy in April 2025.
The British royal family has unveiled its 2025 royal Christmas card, and this year’s theme is centered on warmth, unity, and enduring love. Buckingham Palace released the official card on Saturday, featuring a serene photograph of King Charles III and Queen Camilla captured earlier this year during a special milestone moment.
A Christmas Card Marking 20 Years of Marriage
The new royal Christmas card features a touching image taken to commemorate the couple’s 20th wedding anniversary. Royal photographer Chris Jackson captured the portrait in the sunlit gardens of Villa Wolkonsky, the British ambassador’s official residence in Rome. The photo was taken during the King and Queen’s state visit to Italy in April 2025.
The image shows King Charles, 77, in a tailored blue pinstripe suit standing arm-in-arm with Queen Camilla, 78. She wears a soft white and beige coat dress designed by Anna Valentine, paired with an elegant brooch. The couple’s relaxed posture and gentle smiles reflect the card’s central theme—love that endures.
Inside, the message reads simply:
“Wishing you a very Happy Christmas and New Year.”
A Royal Tradition Continues
Royal Christmas cards are released each year by senior members of the British monarchy. These cards go to family, close friends, and colleagues across the Commonwealth and beyond. Last year’s card featured the King and Queen in the gardens of Buckingham Palace.
This year’s card stands out for its connection to both a royal anniversary and an international state visit.
A Memorable Moment During the Italy Visit
During that same April trip to Rome, Charles and Camilla met unexpectedly with the late Pope Francis at the Vatican. The meeting was warm and personal, with the pontiff offering heartfelt congratulations to the royal couple on their anniversary. This special encounter added significance to the visit and to the photo later selected for the 2025 royal Christmas card.
The Royal Family Embraces the Christmas Spirit
Other members of the Windsor family have also been stepping into the festive season. Continuing the royal theme of love, the Prince and Princess of Wales attended a carol service at Westminster Abbey on Friday. According to Kensington Palace, the event aimed to “celebrate love in all its forms.”
This was Princess Catherine’s fifth “Together at Christmas” carol service. Since 2021, she has hosted the event to honor individuals who help strengthen their communities. This year’s service celebrated people from across the UK who have brought others together through acts of kindness, leadership, and support.
Catherine’s Message of Connection
In a written message shared with guests, the Princess of Wales reflected on what Christmas represents. She highlighted the profound ways people’s lives are connected, writing that Christmas is a time that “reminds us how deeply our lives are woven together.”
Her words echo the broader theme seen throughout this year’s royal celebrations—love as both a personal and a communal force.
A Christmas Card Framed by Love and Togetherness
This year’s royal Christmas card is more than a festive greeting. It symbolizes the King and Queen’s two decades of partnership and the royal family’s ongoing commitment to unity and kindness. As the Christmas season unfolds, the card serves as a gentle reminder of love’s enduring role at the heart of the monarchy and the nation.
