At the world premiere of Netflix’s The Electric State in Los Angeles, Joe and Anthony Russo shared intriguing insights about their upcoming Marvel projects. The filmmaking duo, best known for their work on Avengers: Endgame, spoke to Deadline about their highly anticipated films—Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars—slated for release in 2026 and 2027.

A Grueling Filming Schedule in London

Joe Russo revealed that both films would be shot back-to-back in London. “It’s a lot of work again, we may or may not survive, we’ll see,” he joked. Despite the challenge, the directors are thrilled about the project. “We found a way into the story that we think is going to be challenging for audiences and for us to execute,” he added.

X-Men and Deadpool Rumors—Still a Mystery

Speculation about X-Men and Deadpool joining the MCU has been ongoing, but the Russo brothers remained tight-lipped. When asked if these characters would appear in the upcoming Avengers films, Joe Russo simply responded, “Who knows? I don’t know. I still don’t know.”

Anthony Russo played along with the suspense, saying, “If you close your eyes and use your imagination, you can see anyone you want.” His playful response left fans wondering who might make an appearance.

Chris Pratt on a Possible Cameo

Chris Pratt, who stars in The Electric State and is known for his role as Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, was also asked about his return to the MCU. Smiling, he teased, “I know fans would be thrilled to see it.”

Joe Russo further fueled excitement, hinting, “Anybody in the Marvel bag could show up in this movie.”

A New Beginning After Endgame

The Russo brothers previously told Empire that it took time to consider a fresh direction after Avengers: Endgame. According to Anthony Russo, inspiration struck unexpectedly. “You couldn’t see it coming until it came, and once it did, we knew we had to tell this story,” he explained.

The films will reunite the directors with screenwriter Steven McFeely, who, alongside Christopher Markus, penned their previous Marvel blockbusters.

Robert Downey Jr.’s Shocking Return

One of the biggest surprises revealed at last year’s Comic-Con was Robert Downey Jr.’s return. However, this time, he won’t be reprising his iconic role as Iron Man. Instead, he will take on a villainous turn as Doctor Doom, a twist that has left fans buzzing with anticipation.

The Electric State—A Sci-Fi Adventure

Meanwhile, the Russo brothers’ latest project, The Electric State, is set to premiere on Netflix on March 14. Based on Simon Stålenhag’s graphic novel, the film follows a teenage girl, played by Millie Bobby Brown, as she journeys through a retro-futuristic 1990s America to find her missing brother. She is accompanied by a robot sent by him.

The star-studded cast includes Ke Huy Quan, Stanley Tucci, Giancarlo Esposito, and Chris Pratt, making it one of Netflix’s most anticipated releases of the year.

With their hands full with both The Electric State and the next chapter of the Avengers saga, the Russo brothers continue to shape the future of blockbuster cinema.
