Ryan Reynolds, known for his role as Deadpool, has been vocal about his affection for Toronto, despite being from Vancouver. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he shared how much he missed the city while attending the Canadian premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine.” “Goddamn, I miss being in Toronto. What a spot,” Reynolds said, reflecting his genuine admiration for the city.
Along with his co-star Hugh Jackman from Australia and Montreal director Shawn Levy, Reynolds has been on a global tour promoting their new film. Reynolds, 47, admitted that the tour has been grueling. He described the experience, saying, “The relentless #DeadpoolAndWolverine global tour isn’t always easy. No complaints!!! But sometimes you show up and it feels like your brain has been lobotomized by a claw hammer… you’re desperately searching for a gas pedal when all you can find are brakes and a reverse gear. I’m grateful to Toronto for putting the paddles to my chest this morning.”

Reynolds expressed his appreciation for the support Toronto provided, mentioning how the city’s energy lifted his spirits during the demanding promotional efforts. He praised ETalk’s Tyrone Edwards, who hosted a special segment with the film’s stars that aired on Wednesday. Reynolds also thanked ETalk’s Lainey Lui and The Social’s Jessica Allen for their contributions.

In a separate ETalk interview, Hugh Jackman reminisced about his own connection to Toronto. He recalled his first visit to the city in October 1999 to audition for the role of Wolverine in the blockbuster “X-Men.” As he drove along a Toronto freeway, Jackman was moved by the city’s familiarity and its role in his career. “I was looking at it, and I just remembered 1999 October coming here to audition in Toronto for the character of Wolverine, 25 years ago,” Jackman shared.

Reynolds also highlighted some interesting facts about the film’s Canadian connections. He pointed out that both Deadpool and Wolverine, characters from the movie, have Canadian roots. Wolverine is from Alberta, and Deadpool’s origin is an undisclosed location in Canada, which adds a unique touch to their Canadian ties.

Discussing his friendship with Jackman, Reynolds likened their bond to “two old ladies watching the sunset,” emphasizing the importance of supporting one another in any relationship. “The key thing with any friendship or partnership, this could be a friend or a spouse or anything, is rooting for the other person,” Reynolds explained.

With the film set to premiere on Friday, Reynolds and Jackman’s deep connection to Toronto and their shared journey adds a special touch to the excitement surrounding “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
