Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have decided to part ways after about a year of dating, a source confirmed to PEOPLE.
“They’re both young and deeply focused on their careers, so they’ve chosen to take a break,” shared the insider. Carpenter, 25, and Keoghan, 32, had been romantically linked since December 2023, when they were first seen enjoying dinner together in Los Angeles.
The two stars initially met at Paris Fashion Week in September 2023 while attending a Givenchy show. Their relationship quickly became a blend of personal and professional support. Keoghan frequently left supportive comments on Carpenter’s social media posts, attended her Coachella performance in April, and even appeared in her music video for "Please Please Please" in June.
In an October interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Carpenter shared a playful story about casting Keoghan for the video. "I thought, 'Who’s the best actor I can find?' And he just happened to be sitting right next to me," she joked. Keoghan, known for his Oscar-nominated work, was equally enthusiastic about the collaboration.

Keoghan also expressed his admiration for Carpenter after her six Grammy nominations, including Song of the Year for "Please Please Please," were announced in November. During an appearance on The Jess Cagle Show, he said he was “in awe” of her work ethic and praised her vision and dedication.
Neither Carpenter nor Keoghan has publicly commented on their decision to end the relationship. However, their time together appears to have been marked by mutual respect and admiration for each other’s talents.
