Shah Rukh Khan, known as SRK, is one of the world’s most famous men. Despite his fame, walking the Met Gala carpet still made him nervous. The Bollywood superstar, who has captured hearts around the globe, faced his first Met Gala with a mix of excitement and jitters.

A Classic Look with a Bold Twist

For his debut at this prestigious event, Khan chose a stylish yet understated look. He wore a black wool coat that reached the floor, designed by the renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The coat was simple but elegant, with a unique twist. Khan added bold accessories like a large “K” pendant on a chain and a gem-encrusted cane shaped like a tiger’s head. These accessories gave his look a modern, dramatic touch.

Khan is usually shy, especially when it comes to red carpets, and he wanted to feel comfortable at the Met. “I told Sabya I only wear black and white, but what we designed for me is what I’m most comfortable in,” Khan said. He felt that staying true to his style made sense. The calm, confident look was perfect for his debut.

Overcoming Nerves with Sabyasachi's Design

To calm his nerves, Khan worked closely with Mukherjee, making sure his outfit matched his usual style. The actor is known for his down-to-earth personality and for not often attending flashy events. Khan explained, “I’m very shy,” which is why he usually avoids the spotlight at events like this. He was glad to have the support of Mukherjee, who helped him design something that felt right for him.

Mukherjee, too, played a key role in making this Met Gala debut memorable. He designed the outfit to represent Khan’s authentic self. Mukherjee emphasized the importance of the moment, especially since this year’s Met Gala honored Black designers and the legacy of Black dandyism. This fashion movement has deep roots in politics and style.

Celebrating Black Dandyism and Representation

Mukherjee spoke about how special this moment was, not just for Khan but for the representation of Black culture. “When you get a man like this on the red carpet, especially when it’s ‘Black dandy,’ representation is the most important thing,” Mukherjee said. The designer added that they wanted to represent Khan in the best way possible, showing who he truly is.

The year 2025 marks the perfect moment for Khan to attend the Met Gala. It is a year that celebrates Black fashion and culture, which makes Khan’s appearance all the more meaningful. Mukherjee also shared how the collaboration was fitting for Khan’s debut, as he has always been a symbol of global influence and style.

Sabyasachi's Global Success

Mukherjee, a global superstar in his own right, has built a name for himself as a top designer. His label, Sabyasachi, is known for its glamorous designs, often seen on Bollywood stars. Mukherjee recently celebrated the 25th anniversary of his label, which is growing into a global luxury brand. His influence continues to rise, and designing for Shah Rukh Khan at such a prestigious event only adds to his international acclaim.
