One of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s six children has officially removed “Pitt” from her name, marking a significant change within the family dynamic.

On Monday, a Los Angeles court approved the petition from Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt, the former couple’s third-eldest child, to legally change her name to Shiloh Nouvel Jolie. The 18-year-old filed the request on May 27, her birthday, to make the name change official.

This move by Shiloh is the first legal step among the Jolie-Pitt children to drop “Pitt” from their names. While reports suggest that other siblings have informally done so, Shiloh is the first to pursue it through the courts. For instance, their daughter Vivienne was recently credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in a Broadway program for "The Outsiders."

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt share six children: Shiloh, Vivienne, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Knox. The family has been in the public eye for years, especially following Jolie’s own name change in 2002 when she legally removed her father Jon Voight's surname after their relationship reportedly soured.

Jolie and Pitt were a couple for a decade before tying the knot in 2014. Two years later, Jolie filed for divorce, which has since been drawn out by unresolved custody and financial disputes. A judge declared them legally single in 2019, but the divorce case remains unresolved.

Their relationship has been further complicated by legal battles over shared business ventures, including a French winery. In 2022, court documents revealed that Jolie accused Pitt of assaulting her and their children during a 2016 flight, an allegation that has added to the ongoing tension between the former couple.

However, Shiloh’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment on the name change.
