Tom Holland has finally revealed the title of the highly anticipated Spider-Man 4. The film, now officially named Spider-Man: Brand New Day, is set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. The announcement was made during CinemaCon 2024, where director Destin Daniel Cretton also shared insights about the film.

A Fresh Start for Spider-Man

Holland, who appeared in a video message, thanked fans for their continued support. He described the movie as "a fresh start", hinting at major changes in the storyline.

Director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for his work on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, expressed his excitement about joining the Spider-Man franchise. “It’s an honor to be standing here,” he said, adding that he has always admired Peter Parker’s humor and humanity.

Cretton also teased that this installment will be "a ride that we haven’t really seen before."

Ties to the Comics and MCU

The title Brand New Day is a direct reference to a 2008 Spider-Man comic storyline, where a universe-altering event erased everyone’s memory of Peter Parker’s identity. This aligns perfectly with how Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) ended, as Peter was left completely alone after the world forgot who he was.

This storyline was controversial among comic book fans, as it also marked the end of Peter’s relationship with Mary Jane Watson. While it’s unclear how closely the film will follow the comics, the title suggests a major shift for the character.

The Creative Team Behind the Film

Holland last appeared as Spider-Man in No Way Home, which became a massive box office success, earning over $1.9 billion globally. That film was directed by Jon Watts, who also helmed Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019).

This time, the script is written by Erik Sommers and Chris McKenna, the duo behind No Way Home, ensuring continuity in storytelling.

What’s Next for the Marvel Universe?

The announcement of Spider-Man: Brand New Day comes amid a busy period for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Last month, Captain America: Brave New World was released, while upcoming Marvel films include:

  • Thunderbolts – May 2025
  • The Fantastic Four: First Steps – July 25, 2025
  • Avengers: Doomsday – 2026

Sony, which owns the film rights to Spider-Man, continues its partnership with Disney’s Marvel Studios, allowing the web-slinger to remain part of the MCU.

Tom Holland’s Other Projects

Beyond Spider-Man, Holland is also set to star in American Speed, a crime drama alongside Austin Butler. The film, produced by Amazon MGM Studios, is expected to showcase a different side of the actor.

CinemaCon 2024 Highlights

CinemaCon, the annual event where Hollywood studios unveil their biggest projects, runs from March 31 to April 3. This year’s event, presented by Cinema United, has been filled with exciting announcements, with Spider-Man 4 being one of the biggest reveals.

With its new title and intriguing storyline, Spider-Man: Brand New Day promises to take Peter Parker’s journey in an entirely new direction when it swings into theaters in 2026.
