Starbucks Canada begins a new effort this holiday season to help children who face hunger. The company teams up with Breakfast Club of Canada to support school meal programs. Starbucks plans to donate two school meals for every Grilled Cheese on Sourdough sold in its Canadian stores between December 2, 2025, and January 5, 2026. The company says the campaign aims to support children across the country during a time of high need.
This effort takes place alongside a global push from Starbucks. More than 23,000 stores in over 30 markets around the world join the campaign. Starbucks hopes to donate up to 12 million meals to children who struggle with hunger in many regions.
Focus On Canadian Children
Starbucks says the goal is to support young people in local communities. “No child in Canada should ever have to start their day hungry,” said Lori Digulla, general manager, Starbucks Canada. She says the company wants to show its commitment to the communities it serves. She also says the partnership with Breakfast Club of Canada helps strengthen school nutrition programs across the country.
Digulla says each grilled cheese order gives Canadians a simple way to help. She says customers can support children in their communities by choosing the sandwich during the campaign.
A Long-Term Commitment To Food Support
Starbucks builds this holiday campaign on years of work to reduce hunger in Canada. Through its FoodShare program, Starbucks donates unsold food to local rescue groups. These groups bring meals to families that need support. Starbucks also offers Capacity Grants to help build stronger food recovery systems.
The company says its role as a community coffeehouse includes more than serving drinks. It works with partners, customers, and local organizations to support families. Starbucks says it hopes more children can begin their school day well-fed and ready to learn.
Breakfast Club of Canada Welcomes Support
Breakfast Club of Canada provides school meal programs across the country. Tommy Kulczyk, the group’s President and Chief Executive Officer, says the support from Starbucks will make a real difference for many children. “We are thankful for Starbucks' support,” he said. He says these contributions help more students receive a healthy breakfast each morning.
The program helps children stay focused in class. It also supports parents and teachers who want students to learn in a stable environment. Kulczyk says steady support keeps these programs strong throughout the year.
Global Impact Through the World Food Programme
Starbucks extends the meal donation effort beyond Canada. The company pledges the value of two school meals for each eligible grilled cheese sold in participating U.S. and Canadian stores. These funds support the World Food Programme’s school meal programs, which reach more than 20 million children worldwide each year.
These school meals help children stay healthy and stay focused during lessons. They also support farmers and local workers by creating steady demand for crops and labour. The program helps families and communities move toward more stable futures.
Starbucks sets a global donation goal between $500,000 and $3 million. These funds help support both international meal programs and Canadian school programs.
