Hollywood actor and comedian Steve Carell is stepping up to support high school seniors impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Through a partnership with Alice's Kids, a nonprofit organization, Carell is ensuring that students from six Pasadena-area high schools can attend their prom free of charge.

Prom Tickets Fully Covered

In an Instagram video posted Tuesday, the Office star announced that students at these schools wouldn’t have to worry about prom expenses. Even those who had already paid for their tickets would receive reimbursements.

“If you have already paid for your prom tickets, they will reimburse you for your prom tickets. It’s a pretty good deal,” Carell said in the video.

Wildfires Leave a Trail of Destruction

The wildfires in the Los Angeles area have wreaked havoc, destroying over 16,000 homes, businesses, and buildings. The flames took at least 29 lives, particularly affecting the Pacific Palisades neighborhood and Altadena area north of Pasadena. Schools were also hit hard, leaving students and parents scrambling for alternative classrooms.

Among the affected schools is Aveson Charter School, where the elementary campus was burned to the ground, and the middle and high school building sustained severe damage.

Alice’s Kids Donates $175,000 for Prom

To lift students’ spirits, Alice’s Kids has pledged $175,000 to cover prom costs for over 800 students. Ticket prices typically range between $100 and $150, making this donation a significant relief for families already facing hardships.

“Going to prom should be a celebration, and we wanted to help make the big night just a little easier for seniors whose lives have been turned upside down by the wildfires,” said Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director of Alice’s Kids. “Hopefully, this allows the students to unwind and have some fun after a devastating year.”

Students Overjoyed by the Surprise

At John Muir High School, one of the recipient schools, students erupted in cheers during an assembly when Carell’s announcement was shared. A video posted by the school captured the joyful moment, with students clapping and celebrating.

Carell’s Continued Support for Fire Relief

This isn’t the first time the actor has contributed to wildfire relief efforts. Recently, Carell also took part in the "Skate for LA Strong" charity hockey tournament, helping raise funds for those affected by the fires.

Closing his heartfelt video message, he encouraged students to embrace the moment.

“Have fun, enjoy the prom. And remember, this is Steve Carell,” he said.
