The Super Bowl will return to Atlanta in 2028, hosted at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the home of the Falcons. NFL team owners approved this decision during their annual meeting on Tuesday. This will mark the fourth time Atlanta has hosted the championship game and the second time at the stadium, which previously held Super Bowl LIII in 2019, where the New England Patriots triumphed over the Los Angeles Rams.
Falcons owner Arthur M. Blank expressed his gratitude for the honor of hosting the Super Bowl again. He thanked the NFL owners and Commissioner Roger Goodell for their trust in Atlanta. Blank highlighted that Mercedes-Benz Stadium is designed for major sporting events and expressed excitement about building on the success of the previous Super Bowl. He also looks forward to collaborating with city and state officials to enhance Georgia’s reputation as a premier sports destination.
The first two Super Bowls in Atlanta took place at the now-demolished Georgia Dome in 1994 and 2000. Before Atlanta’s 2028 event, New Orleans will host the Super Bowl this season, followed by California in 2026 and 2027, with the San Francisco Bay Area and Los Angeles as hosts, respectively.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell praised Atlanta as an ideal location for Super Bowl LVIII, citing the city’s renowned hospitality and vibrant sports culture. He recognized Arthur Blank’s significant contributions to the community, emphasizing his role in bringing the Super Bowl back to Atlanta. Goodell looks forward to partnering with Blank, the Atlanta Falcons, and other local organizations to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans in 2028.
