A man lost his life after a shooting happened on Wednesday afternoon in Surrey’s Fleetwood area. The incident took place just before 4 p.m. on 84 Avenue near 160 Street. This location sits directly across from the Fleetwood Community Centre, a place that often stays busy with local families and visitors.
Police Respond Quickly
Surrey’s RCMP Provincial Operations Support Unit rushed to the scene following emergency calls. When officers arrived, they found a man who had suffered serious gunshot wounds. Despite quick help from police and paramedics, the man could not be saved. He died at the scene.
Heavily Armed Officers Present
Photos taken at the scene showed several heavily armed officers. Some were believed to be from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team. They were seen standing outside a nearby commercial building alongside paramedics.
Homicide Investigators Take Over
The case is now being handled by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT). This shooting marks the third murder reported in Surrey so far in 2025.
Police said they are still trying to understand why the shooting happened. At this time, they do not believe it connects to any ongoing criminal cases in the area.
