The highly anticipated Survivor 48 premiere is just around the corner, but host and showrunner Jeff Probst has already dropped a major bombshell about an upcoming milestone season Survivor 50. For the first time in the show’s history, fans will have direct control over key elements of the game.

A Season Unlike Any Other- Survivor 50

Set to begin filming in a few months and airing in February 2026, Survivor 50 will carry the official title: Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans. True to its name, the season will allow viewers to vote on several critical aspects of the competition.

Voting kicks off during the Survivor 48 premiere on February 26. Fans will be able to cast their votes through a dedicated website, shaping how the game unfolds. Additional voting rounds will continue throughout the spring, leading up to filming.

What Can Fans Decide?

Viewers will have the power to determine crucial game mechanics, including:

  • Idols or No Idols – Should hidden immunity idols be included?
  • Final Four Fire Making: Keep It or Lose It? – Will the fire-making challenge remain or be scrapped?
  • Live Finale in L.A. or Winner Reveal in Fiji? – Should the grand finale return to Los Angeles, or should the winner be announced live in the jungles of Fiji?

However, in true Survivor fashion, contestants won’t know the final results of these votes until they step onto the island.

A Fan-Centric Celebration

This is the ultimate power Survivor fans have had since they selected the cast for Survivor: Cambodia — Second Chance in 2015. To build excitement, CBS has also revealed the official Survivor 50: In the Hands of the Fans logo.

Jeff Probst emphasized the significance of this season, stating, “From the very first season, Survivor has been evolving. Now, for our 50th season, it’s time for the next evolution. Our loyal fans will take control—deciding key elements of the game, from twists to idols to advantages. I can’t wait to see what they choose for our returning players!”

Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Experience

As part of the fan-first celebration, Survivor is offering an incredible opportunity for some lucky viewers. In collaboration with Fiji Airways, five groups of fans will be flown to Fiji during filming. They will get exclusive access to iconic locations, behind-the-scenes action, and even a meet-and-greet with Jeff Probst.

This once-in-a-lifetime initiative honors the show’s dedicated fanbase, which has supported Survivor for 25 years. And with such an exciting evolution in play, the franchise looks poised to thrive for another 25.
