Sydney Sweeney turned heads in Los Angeles as she stepped out in a striking white mini dress that drew clear comparisons to Hollywood icon Marilyn Monroe. The actor attended W Magazine’s Annual Best Performances Party on January 10 and delivered one of the night’s most talked-about fashion moments.
A classic look with modern flair
Sweeney arrived at the event wearing a shredded white mini dress that highlighted her elegant figure. She paired the outfit with a sleek blonde bob, a hairstyle closely linked to Marilyn Monroe’s most famous appearances. The look instantly reminded many of Monroe’s timeless screen presence and red-carpet glamour.

Fans and fashion watchers quickly noticed the resemblance, calling it a modern take on old Hollywood style. The simple colour, short hemline, and confident pose added to the overall effect, making the look both nostalgic and fresh.
A familiar tribute to a screen legend
This was not the first time Sweeney has drawn inspiration from Marilyn Monroe. She recently appeared on the cover of W Magazine with short hair, posing nude while covered in gold paint. That shoot also sparked comparisons to Monroe’s bold and glamorous image.
Last month, Sweeney attended The Housemaid premiere wearing a custom white gown with a deep V-neck, a fitted waist, and feathered detailing at the hem. The floor-length dress closely echoed the famous outfit Monroe wore in The Seven Year Itch, where she famously held her dress down over a subway vent.

Embracing a new chapter
Sweeney debuted her blonde bob in October during AFI Fest. She later shared that the decision to cut her hair came with some anxiety but also excitement. Speaking about the change, she said she felt “a little nervous” because it was a “huge change.”
She also explained that her long hair once felt like a safety net. “I think my long hair became my security blanket. I always wanted it down and wavy, but I’m loving this. I feel like I’m going to meet a new version of myself.”
Fashion as self-expression
Sweeney has often spoken about how she views fashion as a way to express her mood and personality. She enjoys experimenting with different styles rather than sticking to one image. “Fashion is a really fun way of embracing different sides of yourself,” she said, noting that her style can shift from girly to edgy to relaxed.
She believes that clothing should reflect how a person feels, not outside expectations. “If I put clothes on and I smile and I feel good in them, then I know that’s what I want to wear,” she explained.
From early roles to stardom
Sweeney began her acting career with smaller roles on television before gaining widespread attention for her performance in Euphoria. She later appeared in films such as Once Upon a Time in Hollywood and Anyone But You, steadily building her place in the industry.
With each public appearance, she continues to show confidence in both her career and personal style, blending classic influences with her own modern identity.
