Actress Sydney Sweeney stole the spotlight at the Variety Power of Women event in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 29. The 28-year-old Euphoria star attended the glamorous evening held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, where she was honoured alongside Kate Hudson, Wanda Sykes, Nicole Scherzinger, and Jamie Lee Curtis.
Sweeney made a grand entrance wearing a bold and shimmering Christian Cowan x Elias Matso gown from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2026 collection. The silver, crystal-embellished outfit featured a daring twisted waist design and sheer fabric that sparkled under the lights.
She paired the look with soft makeup — rosy cheeks, a nude lip, and a sleek blonde bob — giving her a timeless Hollywood glow. The crowd applauded as she stepped onto the carpet, embodying both confidence and grace.
Overcoming Industry Criticism
Just two days earlier, Sweeney spoke openly about her early struggles in Hollywood during an interview. She recalled how, at 16, she faced harsh criticism about her looks.
“I had someone tell me to fix my face or else I’m not going to make it. I should get Botox. I was 16!” she shared.
Sweeney also remembered feeling ignored during auditions. “I’m in a casting and reading my scene, and the casting director is eating a bag of chips,” she said. “I’m like, ‘You’re not paying attention at all.’”

Despite such moments, Sweeney persevered and rose to fame through her powerful performances in shows like Euphoria and The White Lotus.
Embracing Natural Beauty
Sweeney said she’s never had any cosmetic procedures and plans to stay natural. “I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully,” she said.
She also addressed people who compare her past and present photos online. “It’s really funny. I’ll see things like ‘comparison pictures.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 12 in that photo. Of course I look different. I have makeup on now and I’m 15 years older.’”
Her candid remarks about beauty and confidence struck a chord with fans, many of whom praised her authenticity.
Inspiring Confidence in Women
While many view Sweeney as a sex symbol, she insists her image reflects self-confidence, not an attempt to please others.
“I play a lot of very divisive characters, and people think they know me, but they don’t,” she explained. “When people say, ‘She’s leaning into being a sex symbol,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and strong.’”
She added that she hopes other women feel empowered by her example. “You shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room,” she said. “Flaunt what you’ve got and feel good about it.”
A Night to Remember
The evening celebrated women in entertainment who have made an impact through their work and advocacy. Surrounded by stars like Jamie Lee Curtis, Jane Fonda, and Wanda Sykes, Sweeney’s poise and honesty stood out as she accepted her honour.
Her fearless sense of style and her message of confidence made her one of the most talked-about figures of the night — a reminder that true power lies in being unapologetically yourself.
