The $9 Discovery Luxe Box comes with two Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas, a Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco, a crunchy taco, cinnamon twists, and a medium fountain drink. Taco Bell
Taco Bell is making snack time cheesier with the return of its popular chalupa, but this time with a tasty upgrade. The new Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa is hitting the menu, combining the flavors of last year’s Cheesy Street Chalupas with the original Toasted Cheddar Chalupa from 2019.
Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell’s vice president of product innovation, shared that the new item blends the bold, rich flavors of street tacos with Taco Bell’s signature twist. "The street taco is a cultural staple built on bold flavor and quality ingredients, and the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas honor that tradition while bringing in a unique Taco Bell touch that packs even more flavor into every bite," he said.
The chalupa features a fried tortilla coated in crispy cheddar cheese. It’s loaded with marinated steak, fresh onions, cilantro, and a zesty Chile Lime Crema. This sauce packs a punch with a blend of lime, chile peppers, garlic, parmesan, and Romao cheese.
Fans of the original Toasted Cheddar Chalupa will be thrilled. "Fans immediately fell in love with the crispy, cheesy bite of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019, and now we’re elevating that street-inspired flavor experience. That’s exactly the kind of comeback our fans have been waiting for," Restrepo added.
You can grab the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas starting today, but don’t wait too long—it’s only available for a limited time. They’re sold in a two-pack for $5.49, with your choice of grilled Cantina chicken or marinated steak. If you want more, Taco Bell offers the $9 Discovery Luxe Box, which includes:
- Two Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas
- One Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco
- One crunchy taco
- Cinnamon twists
- A medium fountain drink
For those unfamiliar with Taco Bell’s signature chalupas, they’re made with a fried tortilla folded into a taco-like shape. The Chalupa Supreme, available year-round, features the same fried shell but lacks the crispy cheese coating.
The Toasted Cheddar Chalupa first launched in 2019 and became a late-night favorite. Fans have been pleading for its return ever since. Taco Bell started testing the new Street Chalupas in Houston last August, and the positive response led to a nationwide release.
The rollout was officially announced at Taco Bell’s recent Live Más event, where they revealed several other new items hitting the menu.
As spring kicks in, street tacos are a go-to snack, and while Taco Bell’s take may not be traditional, it’s definitely packed with flavor.
