DTF™, a well-known restaurant brand from Taiwan, has just opened its first location in Canada. This premium dining spot is now welcoming guests at 1132 Alberni Street in downtown Vancouver. The restaurant brings a brand-new name, logo, and a promise of the same high-quality food and service it’s known for worldwide.
DTF™ is famous for its handmade Xiao Long Bao, which are soup dumplings with 18 folds. These delicate dumplings are a big highlight on the menu, alongside many traditional Taiwanese dishes. With over 165 locations around the world, this new opening in Vancouver marks a big step for the team behind the brand.
“Opening our first restaurant in Canada means a lot to our family,” said Albert Yang, Co-CEO of DTF™. “DTF™ is about tradition, handmade food, warm service, and cultural connections. Vancouver feels like the perfect place to continue our journey.”
The grand opening will take place on May 5, 2025, at 11 a.m. But eager diners can visit earlier during a soft opening period from April 24 to May 4. During this time, a limited menu will be available, and reservations are already open.
To mark this special moment, DTF™ has teamed up with Yu Chung Ling, the son of a famous calligrapher. He created the original emblem for the brand in Taiwan. For the Vancouver launch, Yu has designed two new artworks based on the idea of “establishing purpose for the people.” One piece will hang inside the restaurant, while the other will be gifted to the city of Vancouver.
The restaurant’s design celebrates both Taiwanese culture and Vancouver’s local style. Guests will see a dumpling expo kitchen, custom lanterns, and a peaceful garden-inspired entrance. The Rockwell Group designed the space with every small detail in mind.
Aaron Yang, Co-CEO of DTF™, said, “Vancouver values art, design, and great food. Our first Canadian location reflects those things. From the lantern-lit entrance to the open kitchen, we wanted every corner to feel special.”
The menu at DTF™ will include their popular Xiao Long Bao made with Kurobuta pork, Spicy Wontons, handmade noodles, and vegetables like String Beans with Garlic. They’re also offering a sweet surprise—Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. To go with the food, there’s a range of teas, signature cocktails, and wine.
DTF™ can seat more than 300 people, and the team is excited to use local Canadian ingredients where possible. This shows respect for both the Yang family’s roots and their new Canadian home.
This opening is more than just about food. It’s a celebration of culture, community, and connection. The DTF™ team invites everyone in Vancouver to come experience their new home. To be a part of this moment, guests can book a table through their official website.
