Great news for McDonald’s fans! The beloved McRib sandwich is making a triumphant return, much to the delight of its loyal followers. This iconic menu item, first introduced in the early 1980s, is back at McDonald's locations across the United Kingdom after nearly ten years away from the menu. However, there’s a catch: it will only be available for a limited time.
According to a report from The Independent, Thomas O’Neill, who heads the menu at McDonald's U.K., expressed excitement about the McRib’s return. “It is more than just a sandwich; it’s a phenomenon. We have heard our fans loud and clear — the fan petitions and pleas on social — and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item," O’Neill stated. He emphasized that due to its popularity, the company felt compelled to satisfy the cravings of McRib enthusiasts across the country.
While fans in the U.K. can indulge in this savoury delight right away, those in the U.S. may have to wait a bit longer. Reports indicate that the McRib is expected to return to select locations in the United States this November. Joe Erlinger, the president of McDonald's U.S., hinted during an appearance on the Today Show this past June that the sandwich would make its stateside comeback “later this year.”
Local sources suggest that the McRib will be available in the "Greater Ozarks area" starting on November 27, although McDonald's corporate has not officially confirmed this information. Meanwhile, in Topeka, Kansas—the city where the McRib was originally launched—there are plans to have it available for sale during the week of November 25.
For those unfamiliar with this food sensation, the McRib features a unique boneless pork patty that’s cleverly shaped to resemble ribs, making it visually appealing while easy to eat. It is topped with pickles, onions, and McRib Sauce, all nestled in a soft homestyle bun. This combination has made the McRib a sought-after item for many fast-food lovers.
If you’re eager to find a McRib near you, there’s even a McRib Locator available. This handy tool allows fans to track where the sandwich is being offered around the world. Currently, it can be found not only in the U.K. but also in Guatemala and Canada. Plus, it remains a fixture on the menu in German McDonald’s locations, proving just how popular this sandwich really is.
